we went through our second last chapter, which is Stars and Galaxies. we learnt about the sun, on how big the sun is, compared to the Earth, the sun flare which is also known as aurora, sun wind, sun spot and layers of the sun, the photosphere, chromosphere and corona. we learnt about the stars, how are they formed and what happen when they die. we have lots of stars where they grouped together to form constellation and lots of galaxies, including our Milky Way. the universe is so big that even they, who study on this do not know how big the universe is.
cherrie said, the people who studied all these are genius. however, i would say, the One who created this is MARVELOUS! GREAT! i'm amazed!

we received this mail at 3:41pm..with the subject, A Message From The Management..

Dear all

As you may already know, the global economic downturn has not been fully recovered despite many efforts such as economic stimulus plans to revive the market conditions. The Company has been monitoring the situation closely including its financial performance.

As salary increments have been withheld in January 2009, it is after much consideration that the Company has now decided to review staff salary on special cases. This is only applicable for selected staff and the salary increment will take effect from July 2009.

For the selected staff, the Company recognizes your past efforts and contributions which have helped to maintain our present level of operations. You are therefore strongly urged to continue with your continuous efforts to improve on our service quality and productivity and acquiring new job skills and accepting more responsibilities.

For staff who are not in the selected group this round, the Company looks forward to your continuous improvement and dedications to job performance. When the economic situation permits, the Company will carry out another salary review in January 2010.

The Company will now look forward to brighter times ahead and also your continued understanding, support and cooperation for mutual benefit.

Thank you.

Regards,
Human Resource Manager

and now, the questions are...which group am i in? and if i were to be selected, how much will it be? hehe..
hmm...

while reading through hongyi's blog, whom i found through her mom's blog, i saw another book.. which i will surely buy, to add to my collection of books. hehe..

jodi picoult has been one of my favourite author, when i picked up one of his international best- selling book My Sister's Keeper (i've lost that book..i remembered i lent it to someone, but it never come back). it is a very good book. in fact, for me, every book written by jodi picoult is good, hehe, because i like her style of writing.
all of her books are fiction, and yet, the story-line are things that happened in our daily lives.

recently, i finished reading another of her book.. Nineteen Minutes.

In nineteen minutes, you can mow the front lawn; color your hair; watch a third of a hockey game. In nineteen minutes, you can bake scones or get a tooth filled by a dentist; you can fold laundry for a family of five. In nineteen minutes, you can stop the world; or you can just jump off it..

that's how she starts the book..
and in nineteen minutes, something can happen and change the rest of your life..good or bad..

the part that makes me think..

When you don't fit in, you become superhuman. You can feel everyone else's eyes on you, stuck like Velcro. You can hear a whisper about you from a mile away. You can disappear, even when it looks like you're still standing right there. You can scream, and nobody hears a sound. You become the mutant who fell into the vat of acid, the Joker who can't remove his mask, the bionic man who's missing all his limbs and none of his heart. You are the thing that used to be normal, but that was so long ago, you can't even remember what it was like. (page 169)

the morning news was just too hard to consume.

it's still surreal for me to know that he committed suicide in the church compound (and the fact that micheal jackson has passed away is still surreal to me..hmm) by connecting pipes from his car exhaust into his car, with his car engine on.. how can someone whom you can always see in the church be the person that took his own life away?

what makes him made such drastic decision? are there any problems that cannot be solved? are his problems too big and no solution to them? must he solved those problems by taking his own life?

i pray that God will forgive him..he chose the easiest way out, and yet the most unwise decision..

Last night, during my class with Kim and Cherrie, we were talking about things that we like to buy when we go for shopping. the topic came about when Cherrie commented that Kim is at risk of being a shopaholic whereby she can get herself 5 new handbags within a week, while Cherrie can only shop for two new bags (a school bag and a handbag) in a year. Kim mentioned that is because it's very hard for Cherrie to make up her mind if she was to purchase a new item..hmm, i think Cherrie and i are similiar when it comes to that case.

they asked me, do you like to shop too? what do you like to buy when i go for shopping? well, i thought about it for a while. i do lots of window shopping and i'll will not buy anything (bags or clothes) unless i have the intention to shop or cheap sale (hehe..). but, whenever i enter the bookshop, i will always come out with at least one new book.

i love to buy books.. *grin*

Cherrie: they are just hugging bah..

Kim: ya bah, just hugging, it's not like they are kissing or anything..

Cherrie: and somemore they are outside of the school compound..

Kim: so stupid oh the reporter..like there's nothing to report already..

Cherrie: and because of this, the principle was very angry..

Kim: ya, dunno why she has to be angry and talked so much about it during perhimpunan..

Cherrie: she talked for 10 minutes only because there were students hugging OUTSIDE of the school compound..

i was listening to their conversation (while checking their questions papers), commenting on things happened in their school that morning. and they told me that a reporter of The Borneo Post took picture of their school students hugging each other. from these girls point of view, it is not a big deal to see young couples hugging each other in school uniform outside the school compound..i wonder what are these young generations thinking, and how do they think? and they even commented that it will be even weird to see two girls or two boys hugging each other. SIGH.

whenever i read other people's blog about things they achieved, activities they did, food they ate, nice and beautiful cakes they baked, i'll always have unhealthy thoughts in my mind, thinking that why dont i have a great life as theirs? i need to keep this quote in mind;

dont compare your life with others; you have no idea what their journey is all about

..which is so true. i guess it's the time of the month, the monthly mood swing..hmm..
