today is the end of 2010!

my 2010 has been great..and let me share with you some of my moments. just to warn you, :) this post will be full of pictures.

02.01.2010: we (ben, milia, ah meng and i) went to simpang mengayau or a.k.a tip of Borneo for the first time, and were fascinated by the beauty of the place.

16.01.2010: we (ah yau, arteo, ben and i) went to 1Borneo to give support to ah meng and the company she works for.

24.01.2010: celebrated cyn's (middle) birthday in secret recipe, warisan square. it's always time to catch-up with each other..and that time annes shared about her modeling experience..hehe.

30.01.2010: went to penang to attend jenn's wedding and also sort of reunion with the ex-CSSUKMers.

06.04.2010: i found my perfect banana cake recipe :) and this was my first baking after the chinese new year season which was in february. ah ma dont really encourage me to bake as much as before because whenever i bake, dad will finish up all, and everything that i baked is extra calories for dad. so, in order to control that, i have to control myself too.

22.05.2010: the first time i can donate my blood after a few years of rejection during blood donation campaigns for not enough of hemoglobin count in my body..the last time i donated blood was in 2006.. yeay!

21.06.2010: a farewell dinner for arteo. he'll be pursuing his Master in PH..and hopefully also his PhD.

09.07.2010: finished my 2nd workpiece and this was given to joyce for her new home in australia :)

25.07.2010: we joined Treasure Hunt 1Malaysia. at first we were so confident that we will get at least the consolation prize..but, at the end of the event, then only we knew that it's not as easy as we thought. can you believe it, that the winner were actually from West Malaysia? hehehe..

07.08.2010: Chemsain (now, my ex-company) annual dinner in Karambunai Resort. a good time to get to know all the colleagues from all around malaysia.. and also to get closer with those we have been working with, the whole year..and now i'm missing my friends in chemsain. :(

10.08.2010: went to China for the 2nd time..but, it was the first time for me to be in Haikou..a place which is very similar to Sabah..they have their beaches, pepper, coconuts, and we have all of them here too. :)

24.08.2010: ben lighted a huge lantern and that was the first time i saw it.. and i think it was fun.

31.08.2010: gathering at kopi botol with the cousins to celebrate ben's belated birthday..picture was taken while waiting for ah yau and jun jun. and, a few minutes after that, we received call from ah yau. he was involved in an accident..whereby his car was knocked by a car coming from opposite way, and the worst thing was, the driver was drunk! thank God, nothing bad happened to ah yau and jun jun...all of us went to police station to settle the case. ah yau was car-less for almost 3 months..

19.09.2010: some gifts all the way from singapore..and that was the first time i tasted macaroons. .nice but a little bit too sweet.

20.09.2010: a shot with ruth and azrah for remembrance. two days before leaving chemsain.

21.09.2010: my farewell cake.. yes, may luck and success be with me :) a very nice yam cake.. the day when i left chemsain for good.

22.09.2010: my birthday! lunch treat - ah meng (la mien with nam yue pork), dessert treat- ben (yogurberry), dinner treat in firefly, kk times square- mom & dad.. and 6 cute little cupcakes from my dear friend, joyce.. thank you all for celebrating it with me. :)

29.10.2010: 36 days after i left chemsain and 29 days after i joined the government..and i attended the very first course as a government servant.. Kursus Keselamatan dan Kualiti Makanan.

31.10.2010: went for my very first photo shoot with friends (roy, yan and cyn)..now i know, it's not easy to get a nice shot..and it's not easy to pose too..i got sunburnt! photos, credit to Elyas and Eddy. :)

09.12.2010: went to penang for GMP course..and had the chance to go for ferry ride in the middle of the night at around 11.30pm, from the island to mainland (butterworth) and back to the island again. it was fun!

25.12.2010: christmas gathering in labuan..one of our family annual event..and little sofee was crying, hehe.

i want to wish everybody a blessed year of 2011..hope you've lived your 2010 to the fullest and look forward to 2011. may the new year brings new beginning and may it starts beautifully for you and your loved ones! :)

it's been a while since my last entry..and in fact, i have 4 draft entries awaiting for me to publish. i dont know, it's like i dont know how to write and put them in words.

oh well, we are now already the final month of the year..time passed by so fast that nobody can stop it. it feels like only yesterday i celebrated my new year..and yet, so many things happened.
it's time to reflect again on how have i lived my 2010.

it's been a month since i started my new job..new friends, new boss, new responsibilities, new working environment..so many of new things and yet i'm feeling blessed and not discouraged.
i'm grateful that my God is always there to comfort and to provide.

after working for 3 different companies..1) GNC as a Sales Associates for 4 months, 2) Fresh Choice Trading SB as a Quality Control Executive for 6 months and 3) Chemsain Konsultant SB as a microbiologist for 2 years and 9 months..and now i'm with the government. :) it's totally a different experience with what i have gone through..but those experiences that i had definitely helps me to carry out my work better. :)
as for now, i'm still not sure if i have made the right decision because it's quite tough to be part of the authority.. but i am told, choose what you love and since you have made you choice, love what you have chosen.
so, i will love what i chose.. and by loving what i chose means, i will try my best to do the best.

i have tendered my notice of two months. but i will only be able to serve a month..so, i have to pay a month's salary to the company as compensation.. it's sad, i know.. but, life goes on..i'll be positive about that.

thinking about the fact that i'm going to leave my colleagues soon, makes me feel unhappy.. it has been exactly 2 years and 10 months..and they are the people meet, people i work with, and people i talk to. leaving them behind is like putting aside something which is very very familiar to you :(

now, i'm busy finishing up my work and responsibilities.. let's not think about the 'sad things' first.

my final task is to complete the fat content extraction using rose-gottlieb method, in selected non-solid food samples. to perform rose gottlieb method i must be physically strong and fit because i have to shake each test tube vigorously for 30 seconds.. each samples will require at least 12 replicates and each tube needs 3 rounds of 30 seconds vigorous shake to ensure complete extraction. if the results that i get are not consistent, then i will have to repeat again and again until i have a nice set of data. in the end of the day, i hope to have toned arms. ;)

on the day i arrived home from china, there's a letter waiting for me. i had never think about it. and now, i got headache thinking about it. i have to make my decision. time is running out.
my current job is great..and i'm actually waiting for the time to go brunei to set up the microbiological lab there, which i'm really looking forward to..but, too bad the brunei government is taking too much time to sign the agreement, and we will have to wait for them. besides that, i believe the business will grow. and maybe, there will be new microbiological laboratories in labuan, miri and bintulu, which, of course i will have to take part in the process..and a lot more opportunities to grow.

while on the other hand, if i were to accept the new job offered to me..what will i get? what will i do? who will i become? will it gives me more opportunity to learn? will i be better than who i am now? i do not know..

somehow, i'm sure, whatever my decision, my family and friends are here to support me..and i have my God to guide me.

so, today, i made my decision to move on. if i am in my comfort zone now, today i have decided to move out from my zone and take up the challenge.

and this is His promise: I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.

the long-awaited holiday trip was just over. i just got back from haikou, hainan in china.

to be honest, i did not really enjoy the trip this time, as compared to my previous visit to china. i feel like i had culture shock when i was there. although i know and are familiar with the chinese culture, somehow there's something different when you are not in your homeland.



hainan is an island whereby the weather is almost the same in Sabah. but it was very hot due to the sudden temperature rise in some part of China, and the highest temperature during our visit was 38 C.


the main tourist attraction spots are the beaches..and you can see lots of coconuts in hainan. in every supermarket that we visited, surely we can see products made from coconuts, from candies to bags and even the facial products.

dinner on our 1st day in hainan: all were spicy..even the kacang panjang also very spicy..

we joined in the local tour to go around hainan for 3 days 2 nights. we visited pearl shop, jade, market, tea house, seafood products manufacturing factory, and lots more where we can get local products for souvenirs.


it's nice to see their scenery. it's good to see their local products..but then it's the food that i enjoyed the most. they are very cheap!

another experience is to eat pork burger in one of the famous fast food chain, which is unlikely or should i say, impossible to have back at home. :)


the last two days in hainan, we went to the same shop for dinner because they served nice food and big portion and not expensive.


a piece of information for you: you will not get hainan chicken rice in hainan. i'm not really sure how the 'hainan chicken rice' came about..perhaps, long time ago, a man from hainan traveled to malaya and got married to a local lady here.. and because he had to raise his family, he decided to start his own chicken rice business. so, that's how we have our hainan chicken rice, today.

the famous chicken dish in hainan is called Wenchang chicken. wenchang is the name of one of the city in hainan. to have wenchang chicken in hainan, is the same as having ayam kampung in malaysia..

this is the local food in haikou. and, this is something different. the taste is unexplainable.. you will have to try, to know how it taste..a combination of everything. sweet, sour, salty and spicy.
